Continuing our drive towards the northern islands, we cross the only bridge over the Atlantic Ocean to reach the island of Eysturoy. On route, we pass through charming villages such as Skálabotnur, Skipanes, and the beautiful village of Syðragøta, which hosts the popular annual music festival G!.
As we travel through Norðragøta and Leirvik, we enter a subsea tunnel leading to the northern islands. Emerging from the tunnel, we arrive in Klaksvík, the second-largest city on the islands with a population of 5,300. Here, we visit the breathtaking church Christianskirkjan, where we explore the magnificent art exhibition by multi-artist Edward Fuglø.
Our next stop is the northernmost village of Viðareiði, the furthest you can drive north on the islands. Viðareiði offers an excellent view of the island’s beautiful surroundings, including the noteworthy church of Viðareiði.
After Viðareiði, we visit the charming village of Kunoy. From here, you can see Kallsoy, the island where a James Bond movie was filmed.
On our return trip to Tórshavn, we pass through other villages such as Søldafjørður, Glyvrar, and Runavík. In Glyvrar, we visit Bakkafrost, the largest Faroese salmon company.
